Barbie Nationalities

Do you have a problem with your child having a doll that is of another nationality?
When I was a kid I got "h***" because my dad kept buying me white barbie dolls. I had no problem with the dolls because whenever I turned on the television all I saw was white people.
He never would buy the "black" barbie dolls because the dolls never represented the full variety and shades of brown that the black race possesses. In other words the dolls were "too dark."
How do you feel about this issue?
I've been on many websites and have heard many arguments about "doll color."
A lot of people prefer their kids to have dolls who are of the same race as them because they don't want their children to believe that being"white" is beautiful. They didn't want their kids to look down on their own race.
I only bought brown dolls for my oldest daughter and the only thing that came of that was that she was obsessed with race. Anytime we met a new person, the first thing out of her mouth was "What color are you?" . People gave me the strangest looks. LOL! With my youngest I made a point not to make a point of it at all. And really I think it's great to have dolls that you can relate to, but it's also great to have a few that look like other people you know.
