For parents, I have a toy question for you?

Hi moms and dads! I'm a designer new to working on roleplay toys for girls. These include costumes, plastic tea sets, play kitchens...you get the idea.
Here is my question for you...when you buy one of these types of items for your child, does she like a lot of character art labels (ex. pictures of Barbie on all the plates and tea cups) on the toy, or does she go for decoration that looks more real like what mommy has?

That depends on how good the quality is. ... If it's something cheap that will break within a month or two, my daughter loves stuff based on who ever her current theme is! She had a Dora The Explorer kitchen that she loved for a few months. Then she realized that Dora is for babies and was ashamed to have it in her house.

The more realistic stuff ... While she isn't initially as excited about it, she ends up playing with it much longer.

I agree with the one who said stickers fade and get picked off. I actually ended up soaking my daughter's first tea set in water because the barbie stickers were looking bad. She still enjoys it now, without the stickers.

So I'd have to say that either realistic or loosely themed would be best. Loosely themed meaning you can have pretty pink, purple, blue, and yellow plates and cups. But they do not need stickers and stuff. If you have plastic molds that make like heart and flower designs be a part of the toy - that could be nice.
