How do you make a dress?

I need to do a dress which is like a manica bigger than a Barbie doll for my art project. How do? What is custom designed, man? What am I supposed to cut and how? am I supposed to take? please help me tell me everything you know and I need to know! thanks

when I made my first dress, I drew the shape and the way I wanted. you have to measure the bust, from the shoulder down [to how long you want that] the true waistline and hips and around your ass. take such measures and are shown in the box where the measurements matter. I do not know what kind of dress you are doing, so I only can give you tips on how to start ... do my best to draw the pieces of fabric that will the dress. MEASURING CUT MORE! and mark where it is supposed to be cut, and how tall. we're going to have to sew. If I were you, id go to a thrift store, Buy a simple dress really cheap and bring art and copy application forms used to do it, scale it to fit your dummy and try to reproduce the dress.
