Why does my daughter insist on growing up?

At Walmart a few days ago I wanted to stop by the toy section and look at the Barbie Collection of the past Barbies. You know the remakes of 1950's Barbie and 1970's Barbie etc. My ten year old groans "MoooooAooM" and I say "just come on."
So then she stares at the electronics across the aisle and pretends she doesn't know me while I gush about 1950's Barbie and whisper does she want the Easter Bunny to bring it for her. So then, she scoffs and looks at me like I ate a bug. I sigh and we walk off.

Remember when we were 14 and couldn't wait to be able to drive? Its just starting a lot younger now. We always want the next milestone or the next phase. Even us adults do it. She is looking for the next stage. Hopefully she doesn't find it until you are ready.
